BAHAMAS: A BEAUTIFUL PLACE FOR VACATION

BAHAMAS: A BEAUTIFUL PLACE FOR VACATION

Five years ago, my daughter and I with some friends traveled to Bahamas, an exotic place with beautiful beaches. I love the Caribbean, and I think Bahamas is one of the most beautiful places over there. Bahamas is located in the Atlantic Ocean, East of Florida, North of Cuba, and the Caribbean, which give this island a subtropical climate. Further more Bahamas became a British crown colony in 1718, and its diversity consists of a large number of immigrants from Haiti, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Bahamas consists in 700 islands and about 8000 British loyalties moved to the Bahamas in the late 1700s from New York, Florida and the Carolinas.
Our trip to Bahamas started when we took a plane from Newark Liberty Airport with one stop in Miami to land at the Grand Bahamas Island. It took us five hours to get there. When we left the airport, our first impression was a Caribbean city with a gorgeous blue sky and a magnificent tropical weather. Our surprise was when we noticed that cars had the steering wheel on the right site, and the streets ran in the opposite direction than in the United States. The Grand Bahamas has a population of 40,898 people. In Bahamas, has a lot of British influence in its infrastructure.
When we arrived at to the ocean front hotel, we were able to enjoy the wonderful and clean-white Caribbean ocean. At a nearby town named Lucaya we were able to enjoy casinos, night-time entertainment and great food.  We had the opportunity to enjoy a major cultural event called Jankanoo. This festival recognized as a special time in the history of Bahamas. During the Pre-Emancipation era, the Jankanoo festival was created by the slaves. The annual festival consists of a three-day parade, where natives dance in colorful handmade costumes. On the other hand the activity that we enjoyed the most was snorkeling. This adventure began early in the morning; when we aboard a big yacht, where they served grilled sandwiches and soft beverages. The yacht stopped in the middle of the ocean so everybody could get into the water under supervision of an instructor. We had the occasion to enjoy the most amazing view of the ocean, where colorful fish and corals surrounded us. Fish feeding was also an excitant experience for us because we felt like we were inside an aquarium surrounded by exotic creatures.  After having spent seven days in this paradise we came back home with unforgettable memories.
Bahamas is one of the most popular islands in the Caribbean and a wonderful place, where you can spend an exciting vacation, forget all life stresses and end up rejuvenated. I do not hesitate to recommend my friends to visit this marvelous island.
